There's no symbol more representative of a princess than a tiara . It's even the logo for my blog! Yet, a large number of iconic and beloved princesses do not feature them in their most iconic looks. Even Cinderella , the most famous princess of all, is best known for her animated silver ball gown with which she sports a matching headband instead of a crown. The first Disney Princess to be literally crowned was Aurora, who had a magical golden tiara created just for her by the Three Good Fairies in the 1959 adaptation of Sleeping Beauty . Since then, crowns have evolved with changing animation techniques  and have been used sparingly for films, based on their context and symbolism. It would be quite some time before another Disney Princess would get a tiara with her iconic look. I don't have anything to review this week, so I'm going to try something a little different. Since my new job involves working with small children, I've come up with some ideas for fun crafts that girls who love princesses can do at home. Not everyone has  a 3D printer , but there are smaller things that children can do at home with affordable materials. For princess crafts, it's best to look for craft supplies that sparkle or shimmer such as glitter, sequins, plastic gems, or metallic paper. Here are some ideas that I've done in the past or have seen at events . The latest Mysticons episode, "Game of Phones,"  began with Princess Arkayna calling up her newly-discovered twin sister Zarya and asking for her tiara size. "I don't do  tiaras," Zarya scoffed in response. Of course, in perfect comedic timing, the next shot was of a very unhappy Zarya sitting on a griffon with a small yet hilariously out of place golden tiara fastened to her short purple hair. This scene was very funny because it portrayed a symbol of femininity on a character who openly dislikes all things girly. It also goes to show how far the princess trope itself has gone  in modern times from being a symbol of feminity to being a symbol of strength. A tiara is considered the ultimate symbol of being a princess. Yet, surprisingly few princess characters wear them in their movies. While it may not seem very practical to wear a tiara in every day life, I try to come up with as many excuses as I can. Tiaras make us feel beautiful and important, just like a real princess. It's considered socially acceptable to wear a tiara on your birthday, at your wedding, to a fancy party, or at the Disney Parks . Like princesses, tiaras come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and styles. There are shimmering crystal and rhinestone tiaras, flower circlets, mermaid crowns, headbands and more.
