It's information overload for princess fans this week as World Princess Week begins and the D23 Expo comes to a close . Last night, the Disney Princess Ultimate Concert Celebration aired on TV and is currently available to watch on YouTube . It clocks in at 20 minutes, which is double the length of last year's concert . New announcements and teasers got leaked all weekend long at the D23 Expo , and I'm here to round them up for you, starting with the most mysterious announcement of them all. Disney Theatrical Group has announced a Disney Princess Experience , with very little information as to what that actually means. Their official website includes a vague trailer and a mailing list, along with newly launched Facebook  and Instagram pages that only contain one post with the same vague trailer. It's that time again ! World Princess Week  kicks off this Sunday with yet another Disneyland concert . It's become a recent tradition to have the original actresses of the Disney Princesses gather in Disneyland to perform their greatest hits for World Princess Week. Last year's concert, which was hosted by Once Upon a Time's Ginnifer Goodwin , was somewhat disappointing due to only being ten minutes long. This year's concert promises a little more substance with more than twice as many performers and a network television run on Sunday, August 16th at 8 PM Eastern Time/7PM Central. The concert will be available for streaming on Disney+ as well as several other services. Disney fans from all of the world are gathering at the Anaheim Convention Center this weekend to celebrate the D23 Expo , the ultimate Disney fan event. The Expo contains all the biggest announcements about upcoming Disney shows, experiences, and merchandise, and it is an absolute blast to experience in person . Its most anticipated event, the Disney Entertainment Showcase, took place Friday night. A whole slew of trailers, performances, and exclusive footage was revealed for all of the upcoming Disney movies over the next three years. Three of these included Disney Princess franchises – Snow White , Moana 2 , and Frozen 3 and 4 . However, the vast majority of the announcements consisted of sequels, remakes, and spinoffs , meaning there is still no update on the Penelope movie that was announced two years ago. It has been a long and fruitful day at the D23 Expo in Anaheim . This weekend was the sixth biennial expo where Disney showcases all of their movies and merchandise that they have planned for the next two years. I skipped the previous expo in 2017, but I decided to stop by on the final day for this one to celebrate the 30th anniversary of my favorite movie, The Little Mermaid . I was fortunate enough to get a seat at this morning's anniversary celebration panel hosted by the voice of Ariel herself, Jodi Benson . The panel kicked off with a group of adorable little girls in Ariel costumes singing "Part of Your World" on faux rocks that lined the beautifully lit coral stage. Jodi Benson made a dramatic entrance in the middle of the song and accompanied the tiny Ariels. Then she interacted with a puppet version of Sebastian before introducing several of the people behind the film, including direct Ron Clements and animator Mark Henn, to share their stories. There may not be a new Disney Princess this year, but that doesn't mean Disney isn't prepared for it. Since 2019 is odd-number year, there's going to be another D23 Expo  this summer, but that's not the only princess-related thing happening in the upcoming months. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Disney's The Little Mermaid , and we can expect Disney to celebrate it in a big way, just like they did for  Snow White's 80th anniversary  back 2017. Like most princess movies , the Ariel's official anniversary isn't technically until November, but Disney tends to stretch out celebrations throughout the whole year year. The Little Mermaid  Anniversary Edition Blu-ray is coming out next month. Maybe if we're lucky, we'll even get that live TV special we were promised a while back. We all had lots of fun playing with princess dolls as kids and brushing their hair until it became ratty and tangled. For those of us who are older, there has is the option of purchasing pricier collectible dolls that are made with finer details in their hair and clothes and come with their own stands for display purposes. While princesses have never exactly been lacking in options for collectible dolls, the Disney Princess Designer Collection that was revealed at the D23 Expo in 2011 was the start of something special. Each princess had her own designer dress that looked like it came straight off a modern-day runway. The collection was released alongside lithographs, cards, mugs, and other paraphernalia featuring beautiful matching artwork. The dolls themselves weren't sculpted from your typical Barbie mold. They had fully articulated wrist and elbow joints, salon quality hair that stayed perfectly in place, bigger painted eyes, and long realistic eyelashes that you could actuall...

Before we begin, I'd like to wish a very happy birthday to Jodi Benson , the voice of my favorite princess . Jodi is a regular attendee of the D23 Expo , and I was fortunate enough to see her perform there during the Disney Legend Awards ceremony. I've been talking about princess-themed events lately, and there's no bigger Disney Princess fan event out there than D23. It is the official convention for Disney fans that takes place at the Anaheim Convention Center every other year. The expo is the one chance that fans get to interact with the people who worked on their favorite movies and preview ones that are still in production. I have been to three of the five expos that have taken place since 2009. They also have a huge interactive exhibit floor where they sell new merchandise, display artwork, costumes, and props from movies, and hold autograph signings.
