Big Announcements for National Fairy Tale Day!

Today is National Tell a Fairy Tale Day, which is the biggest day of the year for those of us whose lives revolve around fairy tales and princesses. This year's festivities are bigger than ever and took up my entire morning with two parties filled with games and goodies, as well as the cover reveal of my upcoming book, Hope and Love's Legacy. For me, every day is filled with fairy tales, especially these past few weeks that I've been diligently writing original princess songs to completely my Locked Tower album. However, Hope and Love's Legacy is particularly special to me because it is the first fully fleshed-out story idea I had that inspired me to become a writer.

It has been a huge struggle for me to avoid sharing anything about this book on my blog or social media when it was the biggest part of my life for the last six months. Now that National Tell a Fairy Tale Day is here, I can finally share my personal fairy tale with you. I came up with the idea for this book when I was 16 as a concept for an animated series. My ambitious young self intended to move to Hollywood, open an animation studio, and produce the show, which was inspired by fairy tales, Final Fantasy gams, and Barbie movies from the early 2000s. Though I did end up moving to Hollywood and rewrote the pilot several times (including a "live-action reboot") I never did get my big break. So, I retooled it into the longest novel I have ever written. I will be sharing many updates about this book on social media leading up to its May 1st release date, so be sure to follow me on Facebook, Instagram, or Threads. I have a lot more in store for you!

Two other groups of authors got together today to celebrate National Tell a Fairy Tale Day with interactive online parties, continuing their legacies from last year. The first party was hosted by Brittany Fichter, and can be accessed through her website until the end of the day today. Nine talented writhers hosted "party rooms" accessed through the site in a set order. The "rooms" are blog posts that provide information about each author, her books, and fun interactive games. My favorite game from the bunch was Sarah Carlisle's Create Your Own Fairytale Adventure, which is a classic "choose your own adventure" that guided the player through eight different potential fairy tale scenarios based on their decisions. I steered toward the mermaid-related choices and was not disappointed with my results! Some of the event's activities took longer than others. For instance, I spent over 20 minutes piecing together a puzzle in Gabrielle Landi's room. I enjoyed the personality quiz for Gina Marinello-Sweeney's Prince of Chandeliers book, especially after getting Princess Linetta as my result! The event concluded with a preview of the upcoming Enchanted Confections multi-author series of fairy tale retellings, which is coming out later this year, in addition to Displaced Fairytales and To Win a Dark Heart, leaving us no shortage of fairy tale books to read.

The second fairy tale party today was an immersive, interactive experience hosted by Callie Thomas as a follow-up to last year's success. This event featured ten authors, but focused more on the gameplay experience, requiring players to travel to each author's "realm" and solve a puzzle to earn a coin and unlock the next door. Though the experience was time-consuming and took close to an hour, I had a lot of fun solving the puzzles and deciphering all the secret codes. The only one I had trouble with was a game with blank squares and letters, which I believe may have been inspired by Wordle. I wasn't sure how to play because there weren't any clues for which letter to pick, like a crossword puzzle would have, but I received the answer anyway when I clicked the "Give up" button. 😅 I thoroughly enjoyed the interactive experience and the feeling of getting lost in the woods by clicking on the wrong words and having to find my way back. It concluded with a room full of treasure chests that contained beautiful artwork and printables.

National Tell a Fairy Tale Day was a magical celebration filled with games, friends, and fairy tale fun! Make sure you have some free time today to go on these enchanting adventures before they magically disappear at midnight. February 26th is always a busy day for fairy tale fans, and I'm thrilled to finally share my own fairy tale, Hope and Love's Legacy, with you all. Stay tuned for updates on this special book, releasing May 1st, and thank you for joining me on this journey. Are you doing anything special to share your love of fairy tales today? Let me know in the comments!
