If the Shoe Fits

Image
With the recent announcement of not one , but two upcoming movies about Cinderella's stepsisters, I thought it would be fun to make a post about princess footwear. This was also suggested by a reader some time ago, but I put it on the back burner because I hardly consider myself an expert on shoes. Still, no princess outfit is complete without the perfect pair of shoes, and no princess knows her shoes better than Cinderella . It's thanks to her famous glass slippers that I decided to wear clear rhinestone-encrusted shoes to my prom. To me, shoes don't look good unless they have something extra on them, like bows, gems, or silk rosettes. When it comes to princess-inspired shoes, there is a fine line between fashion and comfort. Most royal shoes that accompany ballgowns don't look authentic without a heel, but large heels can be uncomfortable, especially for cosplayers who are walking all day around convention halls . I like to find a happy compromise by wearing flats wi...

Adventures Onboard the Disney Magic

Image
There are times when we can all use a little magic in our lives. For me, that was midway through 2025, when I booked a Very Merrytime cruise on the Disney Magic , which set sail earlier this week. This was my second Disney cruise after having the most amazing time on the Wish  a couple of years ago. Unlike the Wish, which was the newest ship at the time (though it isn't anymore), the Magic is the first and oldest ship in Disney's fleet. Still, there were many similarities between the two, which made me feel like an experienced Disney cruiser. Since it was my second time sailing with Disney, I was automatically inducted into their Castaway Club, which provided advance booking perks and a free tote bag and set of room key lanyards. When I first booked this cruise, I didn't know much about what to expect except aside from the magical experience I had on the Wish, and that was enough for me. Imagine my joy upon learning that, like the Wish, this ship features two princess stage...

Where to Find Princess Clothes

Image
I made a post here a long time ago about how to dress like a modern princess . However, I didn't provide many specific recommendations on where to find princess-themed fashions that can be worn casually in public. It is absolutely possible to have a princess wardrobe that isn't just Halloween costumes or fancy gowns. When I go out in public, the most common question people ask me is where I find my clothes. The good news is that in the years since I started my blog, it has become easier than ever to find affordable dresses inspired by or resembling classic princess gowns. As a disclaimer, this is not a sponsored post. My reviews of these vendors represent my honest opinions and experiences. Retro Stage  is a "fast fashion" website I saw advertised on social media a few months ago. They specialize in vintage fashion and feature many recreations of popular movie costumes, particularly Disney. They also have a large collection of themed bathing suits. All of their dresse...

Review: Time Princess - Infinite Shimmer

Image
Infinite Shimmer is the latest visual novel in Time Princess . It was released in two parts and was well worth the wait. This is easily my favorite new visual novel this year. A great deal of time and effort went into making this an engaging story for long-time players of the app like myself. Infinite Shimmer is unique, beautiful, and insightful. It turns the science fiction genre, which is typically male-oriented, into something feminine and aesthetically pleasing, something that had never been done before except for the Barbie movie, Starlight Adventure , which was mediocre at best. When most people think of cyberpunk, they picture a bunch of depressed people walking around the remains of destroyed buildings carrying deadly weapons to pull on a dime wearing ripped leather and robotic limbs. Though this story takes place in a similar setting, it features an optimistic daydreamer who lives under the safety of a dome and dresses in glamorous pastel iridescent gowns that shift colors in...

Review: Time Princess - Taishō Adventures

Image
Barely even a week after their Phantom of the Opera visual novel came out, the Time Princess app released Taishō Adventures, an original story set in Japan that could not be more different than Phantom. This is the first new story that had more than one chapter since I started playing Time Princess, harkening back to its original three visual novels . It takes place during the Taishō era , a period of Japanese history that lasted from 1912 to 1926. Since this the same time period that Gotham Memoirs takes place, there is some overlap of the clothing styles. The setting in Taishō Adventures also incorporates some classic Japanese fashions including colorful kimonos and beaded floral accessories as well as many Japanese cultural references including idioms, fairy tales, and architecture. It delivers a satisfying resolution no matter which story path you take, which is more than I can say about Helen of Sparta or Shadows of London . It takes a little while to grasp the story in Ta...
